Digital Marketing Strategies to Boost Event Attendance in Nigeria
1. Great Media
Everyone wants to get a sense of what to expect before attending an event and how it went the year before. A sure-fire way to do this is to create a stunning, concise, and informative video. This video should then be leveraged everywhere; event pages, social pages, articles, affiliates, et al. host it on Vimeo or Youtube and make sure it’s all about what the potential attendees will get by attending.
2. Landing Page
You must have an event landing page with quick links to your specifically created social media pages for the event, it must be user-friendly and loads quickly, easy to navigate and provide quick details of the event.
3. Have Great HD Graphic Designs
A very good design speaks volume about the event and its quality.
4. Interview Speakers/Featured Guests to Generate More Content
Presenters tend to be a key big reason why people attend an event, so leveraging their presence and generating maximum exposure amongst their fans is a great way to generate content and promote the event. This also serves to give the speaker exposure, which is obviously a key benefit for them.
5. Create Graphics for each Speaker
This is a good way to encourage the speakers and affiliates to share event updates on their social channels as well. Tag your speakers and most active followers, so they can retweet and share the event.
6. Use your Social Media Assets
Use your event materials as profile pictures, Facebook and Instagram stories, Whatsapp status, this is to push out your event details and pictures.
7. Giveaways
Sharing gifts or products is another sure way to draw traffic to your post or event page. Remember, it is those that see the information on the event that is likely to come/share about the event.
Hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by a hash sign(#), used on social media websites and applications, especially Twitter, to identify messages on the specific topics. Hashtag your events (e.g #lagoshighlifetrain2017) to make people interact with it on social media. Write articles with great headlines and good keywords that entails the event. Keywords are very essential, it makes your event comes up also when people search.
9. Create a Facebook Event
This may seem obvious, but more and more people are now using Facebook to search for quality events that are happening in their area. Providing a dedicated Facebook event page will also give potential attendees a place to register their interest in order to get reminders (and show their friends). If you have multiple events, consider creating an event calendar.
